How to Register

  1. Click "Register Myself" below
  2. Click "Edit registrant Information" and verify/update your Informal name (badge nickname) and other details.
  3. Select one registration option
  4. Continue below to add other courses and/or tickets that you may need

  5. If adding a guest to your registration
    1. Click the "Add a guest" button
    2. Enter your guest's details
    3. Add/remove tickets to/from your guest's itinerary
    4. At this point if you need to alter your registration, click on yourself under the "Registrants" section to access your registration options and information.

  6. Click the "Proceed to Checkout" button to the right of the screen (bottom for mobile devices)
  7. Enter your payment information and submit to pay for your registration

After you submit your payment, you will be emailed a receipt for your transaction and be directed to a confirmation page. On that page, you will have the option of emailing your receipt to additional addresses. This course will cover the many different types of immovable property transfers, including sales, credit sales, donations, dations, exchanges, and quitclaims. Students can expect to learn the requirements for drafting and passing these acts, as well as studying and analyzing example documents. This course complements the Juridical Skeleton/Appearance Clauses and IRS Reporting Requirements courses.

The first part of this two part course will explore the hierarchy of intestate succession, the differences in community and separate property, and special rules that apply with certain heirs and types of property. The second part will provide an in-depth look into the history of the only state with forced heirship, who is a forced heir, how to calculate the forced portion and legitime, and how to disinherit a forced heir. How many times have you been asked to assist someone in purchasing an item from an individual on credit?  This could be a motor vehicle being financed by a private individual instead of a commercial lender; a loan of money using something the borrower already owns as collateral (other than a titled movable).  This is a hands-on class where the entire process will be visited; from the sale and/or cash loan,  all the way thru the recorded financing statement.  This class affects everyone so come learn something for yourself if not for your customers!

Small successions come in one of two forms: straight forward and simple OR complicated and exhausting. Never fear though. This course will explain all of the technical rules for small successions. Attendees will learn when a small succession is allowed, who can inherit by way of a small succession, and what actually goes in the small succession. The course will also cover those random issues that tend to come up when you least expect them.
